Culinary internships program focus is on giving current culinary students real-world experience in a controlled atmosphere. Internships are available in almost every aspect of the hospitality industry. Whether you're interested in working at a restaurant, country club or catering company, internship opportunities are plentiful. In fact, most professional culinary arts programs require that students complete an internship in their expected area of employment as a condition for graduation.
Culinary internships typically range in length from three to six months, and are designed to be taken during the school semester. Most students receive college credit (and sometimes $8 to $12 per hour) for the time they spend working at the internship. In order to be accepted into a culinary internship, many educational institutions require that the student be in good academic standing and have completed a number of required courses. Additionally, the specific internship may have requirements depending on what the position requires (such as practical experience or the completion of certain courses).
Typically, culinary interns work in restaurant kitchens or offices, assisting the staff in food preparation and bookkeeping. However, they may also do such things as assist a team that is researching ways to lessen a restaurant's impact on the environment, or looking into trends in consumer opinions on certain food items. Restrictions are few, and with the proper drive an internship can be turned into anything that the student desires.
Working as an intern for a reputable company is an excellent way for someone new to the culinary field to jumpstart their career and gain an important reference for future job.

Hi, my name is Tammy. I was born in Chicago Ill and raised in Milwaukee, WI. I graduated from Madison High School.
I have had several occupations but the one I have found most rewarding is service delivery. As a service worker I am humbled to be able to provide a service to another human being. Our co-worker are number one and if we treat each other as we want to be treated everyone feels special. I do most of the shopping for chef and I prep sometimes. I serve, clean and do whatever it takes to make her job even more efficient. My plans in January 2012 is to return to school take 1or 2 classes majoring in hospitality management.
